Charles Rutenberg Realty & Associated Mortgage Bankers Send Over 200 Homeless Children to the Movies

PATCHOGUE, NY – February 27, 2018 – On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, Charles Rutenberg Realty and Associated Mortgage Bankers hosted a “Day at the Movies” for over 200 children currently living in Community Housing Innovations, Inc.’s (CHI) emergency housing units. The event was held at Sayville Theatres in Sayville, NY over the February school break. Children were treated to a choice of either “Peter Rabbit” or “Black Panther,” along with a complimentary beverage and popcorn. Children presented Mr. and Mrs. Moshé of Charles Rutenberg Realty and Mr. Robert Flower of Associated Mortgage Bankers with thank you cards they designed and created themselves.  CHI also issued a challenge to the kids – submit an essay about the film you viewed and compete for a prize! The Charles Rutenberg Realty and Associated Mortgage Bankers teams included their agents and colleagues in the movie day, with their children attending the movie as well.  The companies generously sponsored four school buses to transport the children and some of their parents who attended as chaperones from CHI’s larger sites across Suffolk County. CHI’s transportation arranged for additional smaller sites to participate in the day as well, picking up from five other locations in Suffolk County. “CHI is so grateful to Pam and Joe Moshe and to our new partner Robert Flower at Associated Mortgage Bankers for making this a day to remember,” said Alexander Roberts, Executive Director of CHI. “I’ve never seen 200 kids and 50 of their parents in one place like this before. At a time when many of their classmates are vacationing, it is such a treat for our children to enjoy a day at the movies, especially getting to see Black Panther as it sets new records at the box office.” CHI provides the housing and human services that support social and economic independence.
