Chief Services Officer
Ms. Smith joined Community Housing Innovations in June 2021 as the Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Smith was most recently Senior Vice President for Human Resources, Compliance and Risk Management for Housing Works, the nation’s largest community-based HIV/AIDS service provider for nearly 30 years. Throughout her tenure, she provided leadership for numerous housing, case management education, outreach and job training programs, and federally funded outreach and harm reduction programs. In addition, she served as Executive Director for the HIV Law Project, Positive Health Project and Life Force. Ms. Smith has years of experience serving as an agency liaison to the NYS Department of Health, NYC HRA, the CDC, SAMHSA and the U.S. Department of Labor. Ms. Smith is a cum laude graduate of Howard University and she earned her master’s degree in urban policy and public administration with honors from Brooklyn College. Ms. Smith served on the Board of Directors of AmidaCare Health, Golden Krust Jamaica National, Inc., and Grace Episcopal Church Community Center (now Lifting Up Westchester). She is a member of the Howard University Alumni Association where she serves as Secretary for the Westchester Rockland Club. Ms. Smith is also a founding member of the Lowell F. Hawthorne Foundation and serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Society for Human Resources management.
