Director of Hudson Valley Programs
Mr. Mendelson began working for Community Housing Innovations in 2002. He began by seeking out locations and implementing the Emergency, transitional and permanent housing programs in Dutchess and Orange County. He is now the Director of the Hudson Valley Programs and is responsible for all aspects of the Dutchess and Orange County Programs to ensure that housing and social services are provided effectively, in accordance with the guidelines established by Community Housing Innovations and all funding sources.
Mr. Mendelson has almost 40 years of experience in the social services field. From 1983-2000, he was the Director of Crisis Intervention at Hawthorne Cedar Knolls Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services. He coordinated all crisis intervention management and training as well as conducted child abuse investigations and suicide assessments. He managed the crisis intervention staff, support staff and supervisory staff in the evening and during overnight shifts. Prior to joining Community Housing Innovations, he directed a unit of 24 adjudicated teens at Berkshire Farms.
Mr. Mendelson earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from Kansas State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Secondary Education also from Kansas State University.
