By Barbara Livingston Nackman -- July 8, 2014 When Chris Konopka was finally able to move from his parent's home in Blauvelt, the 26-year-old didn't take the route traditionally followed by generations of suburban kids and head straight for the city. Last week, he was unpacking, assembling an Ikea desk and waiting for the cable guy in his new home: a large studio apartment on Garth Road in Scarsdale where he pays roughly $1,300 a month for rent. "I wanted Westchester, and specifically Scarsdale, because it is near my work and there are things to do here," said Konopka, a personal trainer at Equinox Fitness in Scarsdale. "My parents are great but I was ready to live on my own," he said. "Once I felt I had made enough to afford it, I jumped on the opportunity." Read the full article from The Journal News.
