Valentine Boxes Donated to Students at Community Housing Innovations

PATCHOGUE, NY – February 14, 2017 – Students at Waverly Elementary School in Holtsville decorated Valentine’s Day themed boxes filled with new books, snacks, school supplies and other items and donated them to homeless children living at Community Housing Innovations’ (CHI) emergency shelters to spread love for Valentine’s Day. Eighty Valentine boxes were distributed today to children living in CHI’s emergency housing in various locations across Suffolk County. “We are so touched to be selected for the first time to receive these beautiful Valentine’s Day boxes decorated by the elementary school children and made for other children,” said Alexander Roberts, Executive Director of CHI.  “It’s a wonderful way to learn about giving back. The children living in our emergency housing will have a thoughtful gift to enjoy this Valentine’s Day.” The Valentine Box Project originated in the Sachem School District. Students at various grade levels decorate and fill boxes with new items and then donate them to local shelters and not-for-profits to link with a child who matches their age level.
